Mrs. Fesing's class prepared and performed stick puppet plays for their class. After learning about fables in Reading class, the students picked a favorite Aesop fable. Each group of 2 then made paper stick puppets and performed the fable for their classmates. The students said they were nervous but had a lot of fun!

Congratulations to our very own Elizabeth Rodriguez on being chosen for one of the prestigious Herb Kohl Teacher Fellowships! Elizabeth wears a lot of hats around here - Music Teacher, Spanish Teacher, In-House Translator, and Hispanic Outreach. She is instrumental in marketing our school to our Spanish-speaking community in Chilton and helping them each through the CACS enrollment process every year. She plans two music programs each year, the Christmas program and the Fine Arts Night. She translates all of our outgoing communications, helps out with parish translations, and gives our kids authentic experiences in Spanish class. Thank you for all that you do here at CACS, Elizabeth and congratulations on this incredible honor!

The 3K had a special surprise for Ms. Bergeron today on her birthday - they made her a "cake" with "candles" made out of their pictures AND they each made a birthday card for her! They did a good job keeping it a secret all week long, and they were so excited to finally be able to give it to her. Happy birthday, Ms. Bergeron!

Welcome to Ash Wednesday! Today is a day for us to recognize that we are sinners and seek renewal from God. As Jesus entered the desert, we should enter this Lenten season to prepare our hearts for his Resurrection. Did you know: - The ashes used are from last years leftover palm leaves - The ashes are a symbol of our mortality and how our bodies will decay, but our souls will live for eternal life - Today is a day of fasting to show repentance - Lenten prayers can include the rosary and Lectio Divina You can find this information and more Lenten prayers at Hallow.com

Join us for our first book discussion on Jonathan Haidt's book, The Anxious Generation, tomorrow night, February 18 at 6:30 pm in the CACS Computer Lab. The discussion is open to ALL, no matter if you are a part of CACS, Good Shepherd Parish, or another school or church. See the description below for more on this book: Do you have children or grandchildren who are exposed to or own devices that have internet access? Are you wondering about what impacts smartphones and other technology is having on our children? Well, in The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood Is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness, Johnathan Haidt compiles loads of research and explains how and why smartphones are damaging and having horrible impacts on the mental health, development, and overall happiness of our youth. This is not a religious book, but it is a book that parents and grandparents need to read in order to be informed on why our children, if constantly looking at screens, are depressed, anxious, and unhappy. Even if your household is inundated with devices, this book can help you to regain control with confidence that you are doing what's best for your family. Even if you haven't read the first two sections, come just to be a part of the discussion. We hope to see you there!

Do you have children or grandchildren who are exposed to or own devices that have internet access? Are you wondering about what impacts smartphones and other technology is having on our children? Even if your household is inundated with devices, this book can help you to regain control with confidence that you are doing what's best for your family. CACS parent, Angeline Heiberger, will be facilitating a book study for anyone interested! Please consider joining with others to learn, read, discuss, and support each other in our endeavor as parents or grandparents. This is a massive cultural shift and this book can help equip you to reach your ultimate goal - to raise kids for HEAVEN. We can do this together! It will take place at CACS, on Tuesday nights at 6:30pm starting February 18th. The schedule will roughly be every other Tuesday to allow for 2 chapters of reading in between meeting times. If you have any questions, please contact the school office. Anyone is welcome, no matter if you are a part of CACS/Good Shepherd Parish or another school/church. We will start February 18th - having read the Intro and Chapter 1!

Introducing the Book Club
Thank you to all of you who supported our Book Fair. We were able to reach our goal and even surpassed it. We actually had the best book fair income in CACS Book Fair history. The I:55 Book Fair was definately a positive addition to our school. The amount of books we were able to get in the hands of our students was amazing. With our commission we were able to purchase over $2000 in new books for the new CACS Library that we hope to move into by the beginning of next month. See below the picture of the new CACS Library Media Center as it currently looks. Thank you again, and we look forward to our next reading event the first week of March with Read Across America Week.

Buy your special child the gift of reading, nd help us reach our goal. We are almost to our goal. We need your help to reach that $4000 goal, so we can earm our commission to supply the new CACS Library with many new books to go on our new shelves. We will also have a video tour of the new building at this time. There still are a lot of good books left. Come and see us.

Grade 3 finished their simple machines unit with a creative flare! Each student was asked to create their own simple machines out of things around the house. They did a great job and presented them to the class. After the presentations, everyone got to try them out. Here are a few examples.

Students in grade 3 created tower structures in Science. Groups of students were supplied with 2 feet of tape and 4 sheets of newspaper to create the tallest tower they could in 15 minutes. The towers were tested to see if they could hold up under the weight of King Kong. Although King Kong couldn't swing from all the towers, the students had fun.

The CACS Online Book Fair is now open. It can be accessed at https://bookfair.chiltonareacatholic.org . If you cannot attend our Book Fair in person, this is a great way to support our school and also get books in the hand of our students. All book fair proceeds (online and in-person) will go to get new books for the new CACS Library and the classroom libraries. Hope to see you in-person during Open House on Sunday and for Special Person's lunch on Tuesday.
